Diaphragm Technology is very similar to the Unitary Piston and uses a rubber “Diaphragm” instead of the piston seal/aluminum cylinder to compress air or draw a vacuum. Diaphragms Products may be used to compress air to 30 PSIG and draw vacuum down to 23” Hg. Sound level is in the low 60’s dB(A). They are less versatile vs the piston given the lower pressure and vacuum capability. The key advantage of a diaphragm unit is its ability to ingest particulate matter, dust, etc. They would be more forgiving than a Unitary Piston. Dust, dirt, debris flowing through a Unitary Piston will accelerate piston seal wear and reduce service-free life.
